Signs You’ve Outgrown Your Current Home
Many people buy homes thinking they’ll be big enough, even when they consider their future plans. A 3 bedroom 2 bath home seems perfect when you think it will be you, your spouse and a couple children. But the more you progress through life and your career, you may get the urge to add a home office or a guest bedroom. Or maybe you start playing with the idea of wanting to live in a more exclusive area. Whatever the case may be, if this is your thought process, it could be time to make a change to your living situation. Here are some signs you’ve outgrown your home.
3 Signs You’ve Outgrown Your Home
A Renovation Won’t Fix It
When a property doesn’t fit the owners needs anymore, one of the first things they consider is if a renovation would fix the issue. For instance, if your garage is a single-car garage, you may want to make it into a double. Or perhaps you’ve been wanting a home office and you’re considering sacrificing the only spare room to do so. Your property has constraints. Constraints only a new home would alleviate. You want a home office, but you also want a place for guests to stay when they come visit you. A double-car garage would be great, but not if it took up your whole driveway. Renovation isn’t always the answer. It might be time to consider a new home.
Interested in a New Neighborhood
The neighborhood you originally bought your home in may have been fantastic at the time. But if you find yourself day dreaming about another neighborhood or educating your children at the best schools, a change of scenery could be in order. It’s natural for priorities to change as we progress through life. A starter home is called a starter home for a reason. It’s a starting point for your life. You’re meant to grow out of it. If you’ve got your eye on a new neighborhood, whatever the reason, change is good thing.
Space is Scarce
As you grow older, your home starts to fill up with more children, furniture and all kinds of other things. If you originally bought a 3 bedroom 2 bath home, but now you have 3 children, the amount of space in that home is going to be strained, especially as they get older. And as much as you may want to play host, you realize your home doesn’t fit all your friends and your children’s friends comfortably when you throw a birthday or Super Bowl party. When space is becoming an issue, it’s time to think about making a move to a bigger home.
