PRO TIP: To ensure that your plants heal quickly, add soil to any of the areas in which you trimmed. This allows them to soak up the nutrients in the soil while they’re healing.

Lawn Work

Lawns can be tricky. But if you start to prep them during the late winter, you can reap the results come spring. If you’ve already cleared the area, you can add pre-emergent, fertilizer to feed your grass and weed killer to your lawn. There are products that are both weed killer and pre-emergent, so you can consolidate to one product like this if you wanted to. Don’t expect for your grass to grow fast during this time, you’re giving your lawn the nutrients it needs to grow in the spring.

PRO TIP: Mow your lawn early and often in order for your grass to grow properly. If you let the grass grow too long before mowing, you stunt the roots so they aren’t able to grow.
